As the market share of new energy electric vehicles increases, safety concerns related to these vehicles have garnered significant attention. Issues such as fires and explosive combustion in power batteries during charging, discharging, and collisions are closely related to the "Three Electric" systems of the vehicle.

In the context of electric vehicles, batteries are used as the power source. There exists an issue known as thermal runaway in batteries. If thermal management of the battery is not properly controlled, thermal runaway can occur, which can easily lead to fires. To reduce the risk of fire in electric vehicles, it is essential to implement effective battery thermal management. Using a cooling fluid with low thermal conductivity can provide a good solution to suppress thermal runaway by effectively cooling the battery.

Common cooling fluids typically have high electrical conductivity. If a coolant leak occurs, it can easily cause sparking if the fluid bridges electrical components or connects the positive and negative terminals of the battery, creating an external short circuit. This situation is especially dangerous if a leak occurs from the water cooling plate. Therefore, using low-conductivity cooling fluids is crucial for ensuring the safety of electric vehicles.

In the new National Standard of the People's Republic of China GB 29743.2, it is clearly required that the conductivity index is EV coolant 100uS/cm (25.0). The new national standardhas also made clearer requirements on other influencing factors involved in EV coolants.
